Recording and Studio Arts

Ben is a journeyman musician who has over 30 years experience as a performer and educator. He has performed, recorded, toured, and taught extensively.  Ben holds a performance degree from the Lamont School of Music and is certified as a vocal coach by the renowned voice expert, Dr. Scott Martin. Ben has worked as a vocal coach, saxophone and guitar teacher with hundreds of students of all ages. He lives in Red Hook NY where he is the owner and Director of the Community Music Space.


Mary Ward


Mary Ward, Founder and Director of Mary Ward Acting/Improvis an actress and director whose career has spanned more than 20 years. She is an Independent Spirit Award Nominee and has had leading roles in film and TV. Her stage credits include Broadway, Off Broadway, and regional Theatre. She holds a Graduate degree from The London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art and  furthered her training with legendary New York Director Wynn Handman of The American Place Theatre. She is a member of SAG-AFTRA and Actors Equity Association.


Carl Gardner


Carl has enjoyed a dynamic career as a performer and educator. His solo appearances include concerto performances with the Fresno Philharmonic Orchestra, the Oberlin Chamber Orchestra and the New Haven Chamber Orchestra. His work as a musician has taken him to communities all over America and across the world. Carl is fortunate to have performed on many great stages including the KKL Lucerne, Carnegie Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center, David Geffen, Alice Tully, and Fisher Center Sosnoff Theater. After working as a resident artist at the New Haven Chamber Orchestra Carl joined The Orchestra Now at Bard, where he currently performs duties as co-principal of the bassoon section.

Josh started playing professionally at 15 years opening for legends such as Muddy WatersWillie Dixon, and James Cotton before he was 19 years old. He has a degree in music from the The Berklee College of Music and has been a performing and touring musician for over 30 years, working primarily as a guitarist, bassist, and vocalist. As an educator Josh teaches guitar and bass as well as songwriting, theory, and recording technology.




Pilar is a voice teacher who specializes
in functional voice training and contemporary and commercial pedagogy. She is a graduate of Manhattan School of Music and received her professional certificate in Vocal Pedagogy from Boston Conservatory. After years in Denver as voice teacher and owner of Vocal Intensive Studios, Pilar has returned to her home in upstate New York where she relishes her role in the development of the voice and the discovery of new talent working with kids to adult students. Evan Garcia-Renart


Evan started playing piano at age 5 and has since gone on to perform, educate and tour internationally on both drum set and piano. He specializes in a wide variety of musical genres including classical, rock, jazz and heavy metal. Evan lives in Red Hook and holds a a bachelor’s degree in music from Bard College where he studied under the direction of accomplished performers and educators John Esposito and Erica Lindsay. Evan teaches private lessons in both drums and piano at the Community Music Space.


Yurie Mitsuhashi


Yurie is a violinist who enjoys a range of musical genres that include classical repertoire, American and Celtic fiddle, and video game music. As a private instructor, she has been active in New York City, New Haven, and Kingston, and is currently a registered Suzuki teacher. Yurie is a graduate of The Juilliard School and received her Master’s degree from Yale University. Since 2017, she has served as co-concertmaster of The Orchestra Now at Bard College.


Sean Gallagher


Sean is a pianist and multi-instrumentalist with a broad musical range. A hard working musician,  Sean performs regularly with his jazz quartet Sean G and the Downbeat and is a founding member of soul jazz ensemble The Forefathers. He is an energetic teacher who also teaches music theory and jazz harmony for all instruments.  Sean holds a BA in Jazz Performance and Composition from SUNY NewPaltz

Zak Walker-Kahne


Zak started playing jazz and rock guitar before focusing his studies on the piano. He holds a bachelor’s degree in music from Bard College, where he studied Jazz composition and performance on the piano under the direction of John Esposito. He loves sharing his passion for music with his students.
